I know a lot of New Zealanders feel a special connection to the Tūī! At a recent art exhibition I had many conversations with people describing their own cheeky back yard tūī friends. My favourite is when they fly super close to me when I am in the garden, so close that I can feel the gush of air from their wings. I always look up and think, ha ha cheeky little bugger!
